WAIPAWA LICENSING COMMITTEE,
ADJOURNED APPLICATIONS FOR LICENSES.

DANNEVIRKE, Juno 21. The adjourned meeting of the Waipawa Licensing Committee was held to-day, the Stipendiary Magistrate in the chair, and the full Committee present. The Committee had before it adjourned applications for licenses for the lEinpiro Hotel (Waipawa), the Takapau Hotel, and the .Tavistock Hotel (Waipukurau). The first-named was adjourned a fortnight ago on account of tile renovation of furniture required. It was further adjourned till September to give the licensee an opportunity to effect repairs. The Takapau Motel was burnt down in November, 11)07, and tile Committee considered It unnecessary to delay in rebuilding. After a lengthy hearing the application was further adjourned to to allow (the completion of tho building. Tho Tavistock Hotel was burnt in. the same month, and similar conditions applied. Tho Bench also adjourned this application and gave both licensees to understand that no excuses would bo accepted for delay in, rebuilding houses destroyed by fire. The Magistrate commented strongly on the fact that pressure had been brought to bear 1 on members of the Committee by both sides. He issued a warning against this, interference.
