NAPIER, June 21
The Hawke’s Bay Fruitgrowens’ Association, at a meeting at Hastings in Saturday, resolved to endeavor to Uiako arrangements for a. few trial shipments of apples to the Old Country, via Tasmania, At the Hastings Magistrate’s Court on Saturday, William Matthews pleaded guilty to a charge.of having, on December 6tli, 1907. made a false declaration before the Registrar of •Birts,h Deaths, and Marriages, for the purpose of marrying Mary .Jam McCormack, his first wife being then alive. Accused was committed to the Supremo Court for sentence.
WELLINGTON, June 21
A .'man named McKillop had a fatal seizure at the Club Hotel. Wellington, this evening. Dr. Henry was summoned, and found the man living but lie expired shortly afterwards, apparently from heart disease. McKillop was formerly a railwaguard, but is understood to have beer employed latterly as at gate-keeper at the' Hutt. It is believed lie bad a wife and child living at Oliin-gaUi.
Sir Joseph Ward returned to Wel - lington irom his northern trip yesterday.

An old man named Tlogg, who lived alone at South Invercargill, was found dead in his house to day. Death is supposed,to be from natural causes. . ■• '
