THE BRITISH TEAM. Press Association. GiREYMO-UTH, June 15. The British football team arrived from Christchurch to-night, and were given a public reception. Over 2000 people assembled- at the station and the band played appropriate -airs. The team was driven to the Albion Hotel, where the Hon. Mr. Guinness, tho Mayor t and the President of the Rugby Union made speeches of welcome. (Mr. Harnett replied, and tho British footballers .gave tlieir war cry. At a meeting of the Oita go -Rugby Onion to-night a communication was received from the secretary of the Referees’ -Association stating that at a conference between the Otago R-ug.-by Football Union representatives and the Referees’ Association it was decided to- forward to the governing body the following recommendations: That wing forward play be abolished; that from a kick-out or kick-off- the ball be kicked parallel with the touchline ; that -when a player is tackled and -falls to the ground with the ball lie should be allowed to -pass, provided it is done immediately; that the referee should put the ball in the scrum; that the ball should -be thrown not loss than five yards from the touch-lino; and that-when a fyee kick is given “110 charge” should be allowed. ...
