Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, June 11. Tlie local Council li-ive -decided to establish municipal gas works at Sumner at an eariy date.' An interesting event occurred in Christchurch on Tueed ly evening, when the wife of a resident of Sydenham presented her husband with triplets, two boys and a girl. The mother and children are al-I doing well. This is tlio third ease of triplets in New Zealand this year, a Alaori woman in Taranaki and an English woman in the Marl bo rough province having qualified for the King’s bounty. At a meeting of tho master bakers to-day it was decided that the time was not yet ripe for the adoption of the cash coupon system, but that the matter -should be kept prominently before.the public. The Canterbury Acclimatisation Society is making arrangements to procure from the famous AVarn-ham Park stud nine young hinds and three stags for acclimatisation in this district.

DUNEDIN, June 11. Thomas Brown, a retired gentleman, about sixty years of age, disappeared from liis homo in Helena Street, South Dunedin, yesteday afternoon. He had been suffering from melancholia for somo time, and as -:oon as his disappearance was noted grave fears wero entertained. Today the body was found hanging in the bush at Caversham. AUCKLAND, June 11. Robert Alexander Gunn, a miner, oyer 70 years of ago, was killed in bis mine at Tokatea, near Coromandel early this morning. Gunn bad evidently put in a charge of dynamite, which had either exploded when lie was tapping it, or the charge had missed fire, and on going to see the cause tlie charge had gone off and killed him. His head was almbst blown off.
PALAIERSTON N., June 11. The committee of tlie river conference met to-day. and decided to refer the question of the Royal Commission 'lack to tlie local bodies. If the majority decide in favor of tlio Commission tlie matter will bo proceeded with immediately.
