CHRISTCHURCH, Juno 11. Tlio report of Alessrs Coode, Son, and Alatthews on the question of oxtended harbor facilities for Csniterbury was laid on tho tablo at tho mooting of the Lyttelton Harbor Board yesterday. The report discusses tlio existing facilities and local conditions in detail, and then follow the engineers’ recommendations m the courso of which” Alessrs Coode, Son, and Matthews favor additional harbor works at Lyttelton in preference to tho construction of a canal between the city and Sumner. Tho cost of the Gollan’s Bay scheme is estimated at £55,000, and £1,925,000 for tlio canal scheme with the dock at Heathcoto. The report was referred to tiio Harbor Board’s engineer, with a*view of affording him an opportunity of explaining the difference between his estimates and those of Alessrs Coode, Son, and Alatthews.
