WELLINGTON PRESBYTERY.

BOOK OF ORDER AMEJNDJED-r-3^ Xmi CC3Tg AT '.. ' Press Association.' WELLINGTON, June 9. . The Wellington Presbytery this morning considered a remit from the General Assembly that tho Book of Order be amended by deleting the yvord “baptised” before “non-com-municant members.” The effect of this yvould be that members of the congregations of Presbyterian churches yvho had not been baptised would be put on the roll of non-communi-cating members. The llev. W. Douglas (Kilbirnie) - said he knew of a family of six in his congregation who had not been baptised. Tlieir parents bad lived for some years in the backblocks, and the children had noyv grown up and did not like to be baptised. Tliey would naturally come in as adherents to the Church. He did not knoyv whether the Church yvould derive much support from the admission to the lioncommunicants roll of unbaptized persons if they dropped in a penny or a three-pennv piece. Mr Ralph (Paliiatua) asked if those desiring admission -had to be baptised in the Presbyterian Church or any Church? The Clerk of Session (Rev. W. Sin re): Any Church. As for support of the Church, I fear some of our full members drop feyv three-pennv bits into the plate. Rev- W. Marshall (Hutt) moved that the word “baptised,” in paragraph 18, see. I, chapter 11 :of the Look of Order, be deleted. This inade the paragraph to read to the effect that persons above 16 years of age yvho unite in the worship of tile, congregation, and yvho contribute to its support by. applying to the session be received as non-connnunicant members. This yvas carried.
