The ladies especially were strongly represented, and the majority of them appeared t 0 be fast getting -into form. Though so many players were out, only two tournament games were played. In the “A” grade, J. Howie (10 )defeated C. A. Fenwick (8), after a close and interesting game, by 2 up and 1 to play. Both players showed consistent form throughout
tho roundj and few bad holes figured on their cards. In tho B grade, \V. A. J. Gibson (16) and A. Trover Coleman (10) mot, and were ovonly matched, yietory eventually resting with tho former by 3 up and to 2 to play. As tho remainder of tlie games in the first round in both tournaments have to bo played by Saturday next, this week is certain to bo a busy one, and some good golf should bo witnessed.
