Tho weather was '.Uloaf for the pastime, mid tho greens, although naturally a trifle heavy, were playing splendidly. There was a largo attendance ol both players and spectators, and the ,11 on,. Jas. Carroll was -also present ,indulging in'a friendly gimc. Afternoon tea was provided by tho home committee, and was! greatly -appreciated. The following are the details of . the play, the Gisborne players being mentioned first in each liistanco: ' - AY. Pettio, Hennessey, Witty, and T. A. Crawford (skip) 20, beat Neill, Hepburn, Nasmith junr., and Ga-u----diii (skip) i‘L , , . , Gandhi scored first, and on the 4th head led by 3to 1. On, tlio 9th head Crawford was leading by 8 to 4, and on the 14th head, at tho tea adjournment, by 15 to 6. From this out Guu-din more than held his own, but the game finally ended in favor of Cmwford 1 by 6 poi)its. „ Corson, Hookey, Bright, and Simsoii (skip) 25, heat Hud, Williams, .Sawyer, and' 'Martin (skip) 15. Si-m,on drew first blood, and on the Bth head was leading by 12 to 4. On the 1-1 til head the score was 14—43, and from this on Martin onlv scored 2, while Simeon added 11, winning bv 10 points. Ml, Koborlson, Harris, Euro, and Pons ford- (skip) 28,' beat R. Sheet, Brown, Halkun,, and Nasmith sour, (skip) 9. Nasmith started, off well, -and on the 3rd .head led by sto 1. On the Blh head,, however, Ponsford had -a lead of two, and on the 1-ltli head tho score was 13'—9 in his favor. After this Nasmith never, scored* and I’onslord adding 15, won by 19 points. At 'the conclusion of the games, short speeches were delivered by. Messrs Simson,-.CraiVford, and Ponsford, who complimented the Tunin-g-aim i players on their much-improved play, and also upon the excellent state of the greon. Messrs W. Pettio and Bright also said a few words, the latter stating that tho scores did not indicate the play, which, in his rink particularly, was close. Mr. Matthewson (President) replied on behalf of the Turanganui Club, and on onioyable gathering terminated -after cheers had been given for each club. -GISBORNE GREEN.
