OLD AGE PENSIONS. SURPLUS REVENUE BILL. MELBOURNE, June 3. At an early hour this morning tiie Old Age Pensions Bill was presented to the Federal House. It provides for every person who has attained the age of 65, or those who being incapacitated from work have attained tiie age of 60, and women of 60 to receive a pension. Provision is also made for invalids’ pensions, to come into operation by subsequent proclamation, under which every person above the age of 16 permanently incapacitated shall receive a pension. The amount is fixed at £26 per annum. It is understood tiie annual cost- of tho scheme will be £1,800,0001 The second reading of the Surplus Revenue Bill was carried. (Received Juno 4, 12.58 a.in.) MELBOURNE- June 3. Air. Groom, in moving tho second reading of tiie Old Age Pensions Bill, estimated that the cost would be £1,600,000 per annum.
