TUKANGANUI GIUOEN. Tho semi-final in tho 'i'urangamii Club’s handicap singles competition was played yesterday afternoon between J. T. Gaudiu and -M. G. Nasmith, junr., the latter receiving a handicap of "three. The green was playing well, although a trillo dead, anti a close and exciting game I'esul--tod in favor of Nasmith- by. three points. The play was even from the commencement, and on the fltli head Nasmith was still holding his handicap, tho scores being 7 —-1. On the Oth head Caudin obtained 2, Kind on the following head Nasmith was lying I. when Caudin with a beautiful drive brought off a “dead head.” . Nasmith got a nice three on the Bth head, but: oil the 101 li head Caudin got all his .'our in, uniting him just one behind. On tho 12th head Caudin got tile lead for the fiist time, scoring 3, and making tho score's Id—l2 in his favor. Nasmith again took the lead, but Caudin obtained another .'3, and once .again tlie scores were equal--17 all. Nasmith got 2 each on the iHtlr liiid 201li heads,.' and. Caudin' got’-!? on the I.9Hi head. 'When.the last head was entered on' the scores were Nasmith 21, Caudin 19. Tho former obtained a single on this head, and won the match by 22 to 19. -Homo good diuwing was shown by both players, and Gaudiii’s driving was at times deadly. Nasmith now meets 11. INTER-CLUB MATCH
Tho return match between tho Gisborne and Turanganui Clubs will take place to-morrow afternoon, on the Turanganui green, play commencing at 1.30.
