In the House, Sir AY.- Lyne stated that even if the Surplus Revenue Bill did not pass, the Commonwealth would not pay the States three-four-ths revenue balances for June. Two hundred and fifty thousand pound was required for naval defence, and £222.000 for old age pensions, and the .intention was to transfer the June balances to the trust fund towards meeting these charges. By the end of the year the States would have received £261.000 above the threefifths whereto they were entitled.
