INTER-CLUB MATCH.
The annual fixture between tlie Gisborne and Turaiigamii Clubs took place on the Kaiti green yesterday. The weather was ideal, and tlie green was playing well. Some interesting play was witnessed, but iu the end the Gisborne rinks won comfortably. The following are the results of tlie day’s play, tlie Gisborne.Childs players being mentioned first ip each case;—, Craig, Hookey, Eure, and Ponsford (skip) 23 heat Hird, Sawyer, Gandhi, and J. J. Martin (skip) 21. This was •1 good game all through. Ponsford obtained a 1- on the Ist head, hut Martin replied with a 7 on the next. Oil the 10th head tho rinks were level with 12 all, and on the 13th head Ponsford led by 16 to 12. On the 14th head Jfartin was only one behind, but' could not make up lost ground, and the game ended hi favor of Ponsford’s rink by "2 points. __ Corson, Harris, Coleman, and Simson (skill) 29 beat 11. Skeet, Rntcliflo, Ilallam, and Nasmith, sour (skip) 17. Sinispu drew iirst blood, and on the lib head led by 7 to 2. Nasmith drew level on the 9th head, making tlie score 9 all. Continuing their advantage, the Turaiigamii men were 12 to 9 on the 10th head, hut on the Mill head their opponents obtained a 5, making the scores 1.8—13. _ Siinsoii kept his lead from this point, and eventually won by 29 to 17. AV. Pottle. Hennessy, Witty and Crawford (skip) 29 beat Neill,'Hepburn, Nasmith jini., and AV. O. Skeet (skip) 19. Skeet scored 011 the lirst- two heads, but on the sth head Crawford had a lead of 3. On the 9th head Crawford was 10 to 4, and on the 12th head 11 to G. On the 13th head Crawford got a 6. making I lie score 17—6, and lie kept on scoring until the linisli, winning eventually by 29 to 10. ' Totals—Gisborne 81, Turaiigamii 48. At tlie conclusion of the match, the President of the Gisborne Club (31r. AVm. Pet-tic the health of
the Turniiganui teams. He congratulated them upon their greatly improved pinv, ami stated that on the whole they had done exceedingly Tlie toast was coupled with the name of Mr. I). Hepburn, icsidmit of the Tuninganm 'yiib, who responded, and at tho conclusion of a short speech Mr. Hepburn invited the Gisborne links to participate in a return match on the Turangiunii green on Monday next.
