He opposed tho Government, because of its land legislation, its methods of retaining power, and its policy of opportunity and sailtrimming. Ho favored; tho freehold system. 'Taxation bad increased notwithstanding the increased population. and tho Dominion was liicraisi„<r her debt but not getting halt lor her money. He believed in tho assisted immigration scheme, but opposed Bible- reading in schools.
