Frankness is not always a virtue possessed by applicants lor admission at tlio Ohiro Home, but a man who appeared before the Benevolent Trustees at Wellington recently displayed that quality developed to a surprising degree. He had stated that he could not tackle any sort of job, as he was getting too old. .“..How old are you?” asked the chairman. “Considerably over sixty,’’ was .the answer. “I shall have to write to Calcutta or London to ascertain.” “But you can handle your mug all right?” suggested the chairman. “ When I get the chance,” was the rejoinder “That is pretty often, is it not?” “It is not often I get the opportunity. Not so often as I could wish for.” On hearing that there were alterations in progress at the Ohiro Home, the man expressed a desire to help, but was, instead, sent to the Salvation Army Hotel.
