FURTHER ADVICES FROM CHINA.

By this Eastern mail dolivorcd in Sydney on May 5 Mr. Tong Chni Chili, the editor of the “Tung AN ah Times,” received further advices from Canton respecting the progress ol the boycott against Japanese goods. Before the boycott Hongkong alono imported goods to t.ho value of 27,000,000 dollars yearly from Japan. This trade has now been diverted. . _ Tho Ja pa nose Government, it is assorted, is alarmed at the extent of the movement, and has approached tho representatives of China in Japan urg iim them to use their influence to end the boycott. The Chinese Minister in Japan replied: “I cannot stop it. Tho people say they had decided to start their own factories before the boycott was entered upon. From a national point of view, you cannot dictato to us and say that wo have no viirht to start factories of our own. “A meeting of 10,000 women was held on April sth. at Canton, when resolutions wore carried affirming that Japan had degraded China, and those present pledged themselves to help the men of China in every way. Attho close of the meeting a few thous and dollars were subscribed by tho women in support of the boycott. Tho news that merchants of byaney had decided to participate m tho general boycott was received in Canton with great enthusiasm.
