John Tacoy, aged 73, a well-known resident of Taradalo and formerly road overseer for the Hawke’s Bay County Council, was found dead this morning on a sofa at a neighbor's bouse whoro he had stayed for the night. At tho Hastings police courts this morning, an elderly man named Frederick Thomas Farr was brought up charged with attempting to commit suicide by taking poison. He was remanded till (Saturday.
Alice Logan, aged about 15. third daughter of Geo. Logan of Tannnnii, received injuries to her' head through being thrown out of a trap at Waipawa and died about two hours later.

Olaf Halinan and Andrew Anderson, seamen off the Westport Coal Company’s s.s. Canopus, were tonight arrested on a (warrant charging' them with the murder of Earnest John Burke, of Reefton, found dead last week in McLaughlin’s stables.
