Williamson’s Dramatic Company, open to-night in Orczy-Barstow’s famous romantic drama, “The.-Sc-artlet .Pimpernel.” The new play deals with tho adventures of Sir Percy Blakency in his brave schemes for smuggling French refugees out of Paris -during tlio exciting times of 1792. This lie achieves under tho impenetrable disguise which lias won (him the sobriquet that, gives the -play its title. His wife' accidentally -assists tho French envoy, Chauvelin, to track down the Scarlet Pimpernel but on discovering that Sir Percy is the man warns him of his danger, and becomes united to him once more -after a long estrangement, a 6 the curtain falls. The ;--!av lends
itself to elaborate mounting, dresses, and scenery, which arc said to have been taken full, advantage of by Mr J. C. Williamson’s staff of artists, etc. Mr Julius Knight as Sir Percy Blakency is said to have never been seen to better advantage, while -Moss Ola Humphrey as Marguerite -Blakency, gives a charming representation of a different character. The full cast includes -Mr. Harry Plimmor as the Prince of Wales, Mr. Reynolds Deuniston as Sir Andrew F-foulks, Mr. Herbert Bentley as Lord Anthony Daw-hurst, Mr. Edliar Harris as Lord -Grenville, Mr. Leslie Victor as Chauvolin, Mr. H. Waiters as Comte do Tournai, Mr. "Walter Hunt as Armand iSt. Just, Mr. George Chalmers -as Jellyband, Mr. Rege Reed as Mr Hempseed, Mr Rupert Julian as Herbert, Mr. Alf. Andrew as Chepy, -Mr. Stanley AYul-pole ns Citizen Captain, Mr. Dudley Clinton as Erogard, Miss Ada Sterling as Comtesse de Tournai, Mies .Elwyn Harvey as Suzanne re Tournai, .Miss Mary Marlowe as iSalily Jellyband, Miss Katie ’lowers as Mere Brogard, Miss K. -Chalmers as Lady Portark-s, and Miss Jean Martin -as Duchess of War minister.
