United Press Association—Copyright LONDON, May 7. Three thousand two hundred and tiwonty-cight bailee of La Plata wool were offered at Antwerp sales, and 948 sold. The market :is inanimate, merinos, compared,'with March sales, showing a fall of 15 to 20 per cent., fine crossbreds 15 per cent., aiiul coarse up to 25 per cent. The American visible supply of wheat is 39,921,000 quarters. MELBOURNE, May 7. Hides, heavy and stouts steady, kips are easy.
The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on the stock sale held on Thursday, 7th inst:— The attendance was rather below the average, arid great difficulty was found in placing the bulk of the stock, especialy old owes, which appeared to be a drug in the market. Sheep: Our entry comprised 2965, of which wo sold 1705 under fair competition for everything except aged ewes. The following are tho day’s quotations—Aged ewes in lamb 5s to 7s, empty ewes Bs, 2-tooth ewes small 9s 2d, better lines 11s Id, 2,4, and 6tooth ewes in lamb 10s 6d, fat ewes 11s to 11s 6d, light weights 12s 2d, better finished, wethers 2-tooth 11s to 11s 9d, in forward condition 12s lOd, shorn hoggets 6s 6d to 7s. Cattle: There was also a slight demand experienced for these. Cows and young stock were neglected. "We entered 141, and sold 38 at—for 2-year-old steers £4 15s, yearling heifers £1 7s to £2 2s, fat cows light weights £3 15s, heavier £4 to £4 10s. Pigs: There appeared to be better demand. Those entered sold at—for weanars small 6s .6d, well bred weaners 9s to 'los 6d.
