THE BEGA WRECK.

EVIDENCE OF OFFICERS

A MYSTERIOUS DISASTER,

United Press Association—Copyright. SYDNEY, May 8. Mr. McCubbin, chief engineer of the Bega, stated that ho did not think tho increase of the vessel’s list was due to water,, but to tho cargo. The Bega was a tender ship. (Received May 8, 9.25 p.m.) The chief officer, who had charge of the stowing of the cargo, know it did not shift, because it was morally impossible to do so. Ho did not consider the Bega a tender ship, and he could advance no theory for the disaster, which he had given up trying to solve.
