ENTHUSIASTIC PROCEEDINGS. (Per Press Association.) .CRfEYMOUTH, May 0. •Sir J.’Cr. Ward visited the State coal mine this morning and received denotations from the Miners ifmon. The question of street formation, State-owned steamers and several other local matters were (brought forward and t;he Premier 'promised them consideration. At 2.30 n.im. the u. vernier and Ladv Wail'd visited the State school. The Premier addressed the children and gave them Iholidav. The children King “God Save tho King” and hearty cheers .were given for the Premier and Lady Ward. ' At 3.30 n.m., the Premier formally opened .the new Post Office and in doing r.o 'referred to t-lio rapid progress the town was making. He wan presented with a .gold key as a memento of tho occasion. The pro- - codlings Were enthusiastic. Tine Premier and Lady Ward left for Kumara at 5.30 ip.in. to attend a social. HIS WEST COAST TRIP. (Prces Association.) PALMERSTON N. May 0. A meeting was held la&t evening to form an Art Society in Palmerston to be called the Manawatn Art Society. Officers were elected and the first, exhibition will bo held at -a date to bo announced later.
