THE JULIUS KNIGHT SEASON. ■ Mr. Julius ESuight, Miss Ola Humphrey and Mr. J. C. Williamson’s Dramatic Company, will mako a welcome appearance on Monday evening at His Majesty’.s Theatre in OrczyBarstow’s famous play Scarlet Pimpernel” which is being produced for the first time in Gisborne. This drama, since its first production in London, had has a remarkable career. It originally ran for 100 nights, and the present revival in proving extremely popular. Both the b<?sk anil the play are by Baroness Orczy. The period of the story 1792, and flic locale, is in England and France during tlio revolution in tho latter country. Mr. Julius Knight appears as Sir Percy Blakency (the Scarlet Pimpernel) and Miss Ola Humphrey as Marguerite Blakency. Anthony Hope’s novel “The- Prisoner of Zciid-a” dramatised by Edward Rose will lie staged on Tuesday evening. The Play is said to abound in pretty scenes, love episodes and thrilling situations, while tho dresses and costumes of the period are spoken of as being a revelation in stage mounting. “A Royal divorce” will ho staged on "Wednesday evening. It may safely ho stated that it is without doubt the finest dramatisation placed on the colonial stage. It is highly interesting and historically instructive', and as produced by Mr. Williamson’s company is an intellectual treat. Mr. Julius Knight appears in the role of Napoleon, perhaps one of his finest characters and Miss Ola Humphrey as Empress Josephine is spoken on as rendering a highly artistic performance of a difficult role. All these productions staged in the usual lavish manner of tho Williamson Companies should prove a source of pleasurable anticipation by. local theatre-goers. The box pland will be opened at IV. Miller’s to-morrow. Thursday, morning at 10 a.m.
