WELLINGTON, April 29. An accident befell a middle-aged man named T. Hickey while engaged in “D” shed on tho Queen’s Wharf tins morning. He was stacking sacks of chaff, when tlio front of the heap fell outwards on fop of him. ’lt is feared that the unfortunato man lias suffered serious injury to his spine. Ho was attended by Dr. Henry, who ordered his removal to tho hospital, where he is in an unconscious condition.
At tho .Magistrate’s -Court to-day, Ja's. Sidney Hines was committed for trial on a charge of stealing -about £lls from a deaf and dumb man named David Gutlierland, at Wellington, on May 27th last. Sutherland’s load body was subsequently found in i lie harbor ,tho only money in the pockets of his clothing 'being one penny. Fred William Jones was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment hi two charges of obtaining goods by ialias pretence*. He was committed ror trial on several charges of forgery. . HASTINGS, April 29. The prisoner arrested hero in conlection with the church robbery nt M aster ton is a boy under 14 years of ige. At a sitting of the Juvenile Court he was remanded to Masterton.
