Preston, G. AV. Coppin, M. Einucane, E. Roberts, AV. M. Kirk, and Parateno Tatae, of whom Mr. E. Roberts was appointed chairman. MAKAURI. Tho annual meeting of householders at Makauri was held on Monday evening. There was only a very" small attendance, and no matters outside tho ordinary routine of such meetings wore discussed. Mr. AVauchop was voted to the chair. Tho report and balance-sheet showed, the school to be in a flourishing condition, there being a credit 'balance of £l9 Is lOd. on the year’s working. The election of a committee for the ensuing twelve months resulted in Messrs Smith, Mortleman, Field, Read, Walker, Gordon, and Jones being returned unopposed. On the motion of Mr Field, seconded by Mr 'Smith, tho following motion was placed upon the minutes: “That this meeting of householders places on record its high appreciation of tho services rendered, and timo ungrudgingly given , by Mr McGregor for tho welfare of 1 tho school, and wishes him every, success ill his new undertaking: and also takes this opportunity of tnankLug Sirs McGregor for her very kind assistance at al 1 times.” At a meeting of tho new committee held (afterwards Mr J. C. Field was appointed chairman.

TE KARAKA. At the householders’ meeting held on Monday night tho following report was submitted by the outgoing School Committee: —“On presenting you our report on the past year’s work, your committee has great pleasure in stating that our school continues to force ahead. For the year ending March 31St, 1908, the average attendance was 105 out of an average roll number of 121. At tho present time the roll is 149, and the daily nverage 127. In October last Miss Greene resigned her. position as assistant mistress, and'was succeeded by Mrs. Hogg, wllio acted as relieving teacher until the appointment of Miss Pickering, who took up her duties on February 3rd. Owing to changes in the teaching staff, the infant department lias, somewhat fallen behind its ustial standard of merit, but we feel sure that this defect will be remedied before the end of the current year. In the upper department, however, the usual high standard of work has been maintained, as shown in the Inspector’s report. Four pupils from this school sat for the St. 0. synchronous examination held at Waerenga-a-hika, and of tho four, three passed with honors, while .the fourth also passed with a good percentage of marks. For the first time in tho history of the school, we sent last Christmas a candidate for the scholarship examination. The candidate, Miss Mabel Powell, (acquitted herself with credit, and won an Education Board Scholarship, which entitles her to, free tuition at the High School, and £2O besides. In February last the school was favored .with a flying visit from tho .Hon. Georgo Fowlds, Minister of Education, who delivered an encouraging address to the children. During tho year a new gate has been erected in front of <tlio teacher’s residence, and about fifty yards of metal have been spread oil the low-lying parts of' the grounds. Tho balance-sheet, - duly audited by the Education '.Board, is attached hereto.” Tho . balance-sheet: of tho school fund account showed a credit balance of £2O 19s sd. The following were elected >as the committeo for tho ensuing year: —Messrs. J. W. Brown, AV. Powell, G. F. Bell, AV. H. Roberts, A. -M. Lewis, AV. L. Speilce', and J. F. Graham. A vote of thanks was accorded to the outgoing committeo for their successful year’s work. At a meeting of the newly-elected committee, Mr. H. L. Spence was elected chairman, and Mr. W. Roberts secretary. WHATUTUTU.

There was a good attendance of householders. ! The reponb and 'bal-ance-sheet-, which showed ia credit of £lB ss, was adopted. A committee was elected as follows:—‘Messrs. McCullough, Painter, Durrant, Match©, AA’oodford, Kleine, and Saunders. Mr. Durrant was re-elected chairman. TOKOMARU BAY. v The householders’ meeting '(there was poorly attended. The school is in good forking order, and excellent reports -were received from the inspector. Tho following were elected a committee: —Messrs. Fair lie, Gordon, Worry, Connelly, and Oates. Mr. Fairlie was elected chairman. TOLOGA BAY. The annual meeting of householders was held in the schoolhouse" on Monday evening. There was a failattendance, Mr. Holder presiding. The report and balance-sheet was adopted. The committee for the ensuing year are:—Messrs. AY. E. Holder, AV. A. Tnlloch, AV. J. Hick,. AV. Lockwood, H. Temple, J. A. Moore, and J. F. Earnshaw. At a subsequent meeting of the committee Mr. AW E. Holder was elected chairman, and Mr. AV. A. Tnlloch treasurer. MOTU. Tho householders’ meeting at Motu was not well attended. Mr. C. Hanson was chairman. Tho'balance-sheet

was road and adopted. The Education Board has authorised improvomonts. up to £lO to bo done about the now 1 school. Miss Cradwell has resigned, and' the school is at present closed. The Board wrote asking that the teacher’s salary should xiot bo less than £7O. Those present promised £lO of the deficiency. Tho -balanco, via., about £2O, will need to bo promised before a new teacher is sent to ro-open the school. The committee appointed for tho ensuing year were: Messrs. G. E. Little (chairman - and secretary), W. Bright, O. Richmond, P. Hanson, and F. Hanson. NUHAiKA. Only six householders attended tho annual meeting for the election of a new school committee for the Nuhaka school. Mr N. Shaw was in the chair. Tho lato committee’s report anil balance-sheet were read and adopted. The latter showed a credit balance of £l2 7s 6d. For tho comniittco tho following fivo members were elected unopposed : —Mrs Thomson, and-Messrs MclCee, Jones, J. Taylor, and .llutir'ay..-.' At the subsequent pfeeting of hho now committoo Mr Sic Ke® was re-elected chairman, Sirs Thomson treasurer, and Mr Shaw secretary. TINIROTO. ~- At Tiniroto tho following committeo was elected:—'.Messrs AV. Sutherland, W. AVh.vite, J*. Richardson, J. Patterson, and J. Perry. Mr Perry was appointed chairman. ■PAT UTAH I.
