FOOTBALL.

P.B. KUGBY UNION. A meeting of tho management, committee of the P.B. Rugby Union was held in tho -Masonic Hotel on Wednesday evening. Present:—.Messrs. 11. E.' Maude (chairman). Messrs. Eaton, Wauehop, E. L. Maude, and I). Cowan. Applications under the Accident Insura ado Fund wore received from tho secretary of the Kaiti City Club, on behalf of Gillies, who was injured last Saturday, and also from Turner, who was disabled last season. In tho latter case the application was dismissed, while in the. case of Gillies, the secretary was instructed to obtain a medical certificate. Tho matter of the proposed country subunion was discussed, and it was decided that the suggestion could not be givon- effect to at present. Correspondence- from the Hockey Association and the Thursday footballers was received, and both are to be requested to send deputations to tho next meeting of the Union, on Tuesday next. —The opening of the season was fixed for May 2, when the annual Maori v. Pakeha match will be played. Messrs. Eaton, Wauehop, and Sherriff were appointed to select tho Pakeha team, and Messrs. Pine, To lteinga, and Kaipara the Maori team.—lt was decided that referees in all matches must be supplied with a legible list of players competing, before such matches start, and that the Union be supplied with a copy of same. —The committee decided that five rounds be played in tho senior cup contest, and the draw resulted as follows : —May 9, "West End v. KaitiCity; May 16th; West End v. Takitim'u; May 23, Takitimu v. KaitiCity. The junior and third competitions will stgrt- a week later, and will be played in the above order.

NEW ZEALANDERS IN AUSTRALIA. United Press Association—Copyright, SYDNEY, April 23. The New Zealand footballers defeated a. team selected by the Newcastle Union by 53 to 6. There were few' spectators. Tries were scored by Rowe (3), It. Wynyard (2), Johnson, Dunning, Messenger, Tyler, Tyne, and Wrigley. Of these six were converted by Messenger, two- by Turtill, and one each by Tyler and Johnson.
