CRICKET.

EDEN. V. P.B. ELEVEN. The visiting Eden Club played the concluding match of its tour yesterday against a local eleven. Owing, no* doubt, to the threatening appearance of the elements, only half a dozen of the local men put in an appearance in the morning, but their places were filled by substitutes, who were gathered together from wherever they could be found. As a consequence of this, play did not commence until after 2 o’clock. The Eden skipper again won the toss, and sent his men in to bat. An excellent start was made, and the first wicket fell with the total at 37. The next wicket put on 26 runs, and the whole side was eventually dismissed for 169. Harker was the most successful bowler, obtaining six wicket for 55 runs, a really good performance with a greasy ball. 'The local team .went in about 4 p.n)., and when play ceased, shortly before 5 p.m., owing to bad light, 40 had been scored for the loss of two wickets. F. Burke (f2 not out), JLang (9 not out) and "extras” (10) being the principal contributors. 01Hff secured the two wickets at a oost of four runs. The following are the scores:—
