It is seldom that a Government Department can show such a record of promptness and despatch as the Labor Department has lately accom-. plished. On the recent formation of the Gisborne Typographical Union, an application to register .the Union and to approve of its rules was sent to the Labor Department, and within one week of the application being forwarded a reply was received from the Department announcing registration. Practically the Union was registered within three days after application,. a step that in many other instances has taken months to accomplish.
