Only a little time ago Lord Stratlicona voiced the prediction that the Dominion of Canada would hy the gild of this century have as largo a population as 'the United States. This, seeing that- the United States now claims 84,000,000 and Canada only 0,000,000 of population, seemed on tho face of it a sanguine anticipation,, but considered in the light of certain figures recently published there cannot be any impossibility about it at all. These figures show that against the present Canadian population of 6,000,000 the whole population of the organised States was only 5,308,483 in the year. 1900. During the 12 months ending June last 252,038 immigrants entered Canada. the latter contrasting with the total of 15,571 which entered the Dominion 10 years ago.
