ATTEMPT TO DERAIL A TRAIN.
RAILWAY LINE COVERED WITH BALLAST. (Per Press Association.! PAEROA, April 18. Yesterday morning tho police were informed that the railway line, about two miles from Paeroa, bad been covered with ballast. They proceeded to the place and found that ballast had -been filled over the line for about- two feet on one side and about eighteen inches on the other. It is doubtful if this would have derailed a train, but it appears as if such was the intention. It was only about four feet from the bridge.- The -ballast was of a loose,'sandy nature,
