BIGAMIST AND SWINDLER.
Our London correspondent, writing on February 14, says:—Arthur Kino, a dentist, has pleaded guilty, at the Bristol Assizes, to several charges of bigamy and swindling. In 1905 lie married a young girl at Manchester, in the name of Western. There were two children of the marriage. Early in 1907 he emigrated to Bristol, where lie married a widow, named Stevens, and got £4OO from a Mr. Dack (Steven’s brother), under pretence that ho was engaged in an important secret invention for the Admiralty. About the same time be obtained £IOO from a British lady, named Miss. Mathews, to assist in furnishing a. house, which was near to the place where he was then living with his second wife-vic-tim. Miss. Mathews afterwards charged him with theft, and Mr. Da'ck went surety for him before the magistrate. He left the court under recognisances, and lie and Mrs. Stevens went to London, -where tho man eluded her, and set off alone to Paris, Antwerp, Hull, and Aberdeen. At Aberdeen ho compromised with another woman, whose name was not mentioned. It has also been discovered that, prior to these events, he married a young lady at Rnthmines, in Ireland. They went to Birmingli mi, where certain information _ reached the. lady and she deserted him. He likewise married a single woman, named Collins. at Bristol, and got £74 from her. Collins gave birth to a child this week, and Mrs. Stevens_ is iibout to become a mother. It is believed there are other cases against the man. The judge (Lord Colerage) sentenced him 'to the heaviest penalty, seven years’ hard labor, and five years’ for swindling. Hb also recommended tlie return of Mr. Duck’s recognisance money, which has been estreated.
