Tho action was strongly resented by .others m tho boat, and anyone making the at tempt was threatened with lougn treatment. Tho knife was afterwards returned to the owner. , All pay tributes to the coolness and bravery of the women and children. The steamer Coomondery sent to the relief of the remaining castaways, met with an accident to her engines, being thus delayed for several hours.
