RELIC OF THE DEAD.
SHIP’S BUOY FOUND. VESSEL .MISSING FOR OVER TWO YEARS. (Per Pi •oss Association.) AUCKLAND, April 0. On tho 28th December lust year, the captain of s.s. Chelmsford pickeel un in Porangarangn Bay, a ship s buoy, which had evidently been in the water for some considerable time, as it was coated with barnacles. The name “Alsternixe,” however, coukl bo iust distinguished. The Collector of Customs informed the German Consul (Mr. Carl Seeguer) of tho occurrence, and tlio latter gentleman communicated with Germany with a view to unravelling the mystery. >Mr. Seogonor lias received a communication from tho owners of tho A. Ist cruize. which was a full-rigged ship, m which they state that the ship left Callao on "26th. November, 1906, for Sydney Heads, but never reached there." The ship was posted as lost in December last year.
