VESSEL CAPSIZES.
ALL HANDS LANDED, ONE ’ PASSENGER REPORTED DEAD. United Press Association—Copyright (Received April 6. 5.13 p.m.) SYDNEY, Anril 6. The Ulawarra Company’s steamer Begu capsized during the night off Tat lira. It is believed all landed safely on the coast, .but one passenger is reported to have died. Tho Bega left Tathra at 7 o’clock last night, en routeffort Sydney,r rt Sydney, with a large cargo, including a large number of livo stock. Two hours alter her departure, when four miles off tho land, sho began to fill, owing, it is believed, to -cargo shirting, and .gradually canting by the head, capsized. "Tho passengers and crow, numbering altogether between (0 and 80 succeeded in launching boats aiui a ’raft. During tho excitement, a passenger, David Clarke, colji'psed, and exxnred. Two boats landed during the night at Cuttagee, and -later the raft was washed ashore at Wallagoot, after drifting for seven hours. All aboard were well. At tho time of tho disaster the weather was line, hut a misty rain was falling, and there was a light wind. Relief was sent to tho shipwrecked people, vho saved only tho clothes in which t ey stood. A relief steamer was despatched from Bermagui .to pick them up. Tho Bega was in charge of Captain Bishop, one of the company’s most trusted officers. , The steamer was loaded and manned by non-unionists. On receipt of the news the joint executive strike com mitteo passed a resolution or sympathy with the company in its loss.
