CRICKET. UNITED V. TARIJHEiUT. United journeyed to Tnruhcru on Saturday to commence tho last match of tho season against tho country club. Laskor won tho toss from Hallatnoro and decided to bat, sending Whitely and Sharpies to the wickots. An excellent start was effected, and tho second wicket did not lull until 61 had been scored, but after this tho wickets fell rapidly, and the last man was out with tho total at 100. Coop bowled extremely well for United, and his five wickets wero obtained at tho small cost of 15 runs, llallaniorc was also in good form, securing lour wickets for 28. United’s innings was commenced in a rather bad light, with tho trees casting long shadows over the pitch, and batsman after batsman retired in quick timo, and when eventually the umpires agreed that tlio light was too bad to permit of any further play six wickets wore down for tho ridiculously small total of 12 runs.
