The final polo match for tho Savillo Cup between Hawno’s Bay and RangitiKoi was hotly contested,, and tno' play at times was of an exciting and brilliant nature. 'Hie Kuugitikei team bad on tho whole slightly tho oetter combination but had rather had luck in just missing the goal on two occasions and in tno matter of tree hits given against them. Stiff tno Hawke s Bay team played a fine game and after their brilliant play toivarils tlie end of tho match ,no one could begrudge them their win. j\lciveuzio especially played a very lino dashing game, saving his side time •liter time, and being also brilliant m attack. In tho fourth spell lie got a nasty crack on tho head, which bleed freely, and he had to be bandaged but tno accident made little or no diifercnco to his play. Tho issue was in doubt till the end of tho gamo. This is tlie second year in succession that Hawke’s Bay has won tho Cup. COMMONWEALTH MANOEUVRES Colonel Davis, Inspector-General of the New Zealand forces has been selected to represent the Dominion at the manoeuvres of the commonwealth Defence Forces near .Sydney during tlie coming Easter Holidays. Recently 1 mentioned tho fact that a company was being formed to dredge lor oysters in Codk’s Straits. Tho ~rawler Nora Niven, which put in here yesterday, has located extensive oeds there. The oysters aro said to oo of good size and quality. Apparently the new discovery will make Wellington independent of Bluff oysters.

Veterinary surgeon Quinncll and Professor Xirn nare been engaged in imparting Knowledge to the Inspectors at the request ot the Chief inspector of Block, nr. Frenehley, District Health Officer' is to deliver a course of lectures on sanitation and infectious diseases in relation to dairies to the newly appointed dairy inspectors.
