AI AT AAV HERO STOCK SALES,

There whs n smnll attendance of buyers at the weekly stock sales held at' Mntnwliero yesterday. The large (luautitv of stock offered during the week has kept the demand more than supplied and ' farmers were cautious of reaching high prices. The bidding was slow and uneven, good prices being reached in a . few .instances, wlulo other pens were not wanted. Breeding ewes met with fair demand; 68(5 Romney Cross ewes from _ Mr. Coftrill’s station at Waiapu brought 13s Od, while a number of other nous from the same owner reached 13s. The supply of fat stock was small, but prices showed an advance on last weeks rat roaching as high as 15s 2d for a few choice perns, the average price being about. 14s. A few pens of stores made 13s 3d and forward lambs 9s 6d. There was a fair yarding of rams; six imported Shropshires realised £2, lour two-toth Romney's" £1 19s, while poor sorts realised from 2s Gel to Bs. There was practically no butchers beef on offer, though the yarding of stores was veil up to the average, and a little in advance in quality. A pen of 16 two year old steers in forward condition made £4 17s 6d, and two beef cows £4 10s. SHEER.

About 11.000 were yarded, mostly stores. 100 two-tooth Romney owes from AVaipiro 13s; 370 four, six, and ei'dit ' tooth ewes 10« Gd; lGOmnxed ewes and wethers 10s Id; 207 twotooth wethers, in forward condition 10s 7d; IGO two-tooth Romney ewes (to lamb) 13s; 4GO store ewes, in <rood condition 13s Gd; and GB6 breeding owes from Air. Cothill’s farm at AVaipiro Station 13s Gd; were ‘tho leading prices, Poorer sorts brought from 6s to 9s 9d ; lambs from 5s Gd to 9s Gd. 15EEE.

About 450 bead of cattle, mostly steers were yarded. There was very little beef in tlio pens, and prices were only moderate. Eat steers made from £4 12s Gd to £4 17s Gd, but were poor samples. Stores brought from £2 12 sGd to £4 12s Gd. 20 two year-old steers £2 19s, 12 good quality store steers £4 12s Gd. 16 two year-old steers £4 12s Gd, two beef cows £410s, five young steers £4 12s Gd being the leading pens. Calves' brought from 19s to £1 2s. A three year-old shorthorn hull sold 'for £>l 10s 3 while a dairy cow was passed in. A few pigs ’ were offered but the price did not reach the reserve ,and they were withdrawn.
