GISBORNE FIRE BRIGADE.

ANNUAL MEETING. Thu annual meeting of the Gisborne Volunteer Eire Brigade .ivas held at the Eire Station last evening, Deputy (Superintendent J. Thompson occupying the chair, and there wiis a large attendance. The secretary reported that during the year the members had many opportunities of displaying their ability, owing to the largo number -of fires that bad occurred. There bad been five fires, with a total loss to the owners of £fi27o, and to Ibo insurance companies of £2520. A high pressure water supply had -been established in the borough, and was used at the last fire for the first time, and it was boned would •nrovo very useful in the future. The use of this supply, and the growth of the itown, needed a reorganisation of the brigade, and -the rules being revised. During the year the ratepayers decided upon the introduction of the Eire Board system of management, but owing to .the wishes of the brigade the Borough Council decided to'
