WELLINGTON, March 31. • An unpleasant wind blow across tho polo grounds yesterday, when tho New Zealand Association’s tournament was continued, and few spectators were present. Despite tlio conditions the play was fast and keen. Tlio remaining two matches in the first round lor tlio Seville Cup, and one game in the second round, were played. SAVILLE CUP. First Round. Hawke’s Bay beat Wellington A by 9 goals to 5. Johnston played a splendid game for Wellington. Tlio local men woro not so well mounted as the Hawke’s Bay men, which assisted them a good deal in their victory. For Hawke’s Bav Neilbon scored tlireo goals, McKenzie. Bennett, and Russell one each. For Wellington the scorers were Grace (2), Clarke, Johnston, and Williams. Mangalioia beat Fern Flats by 8 to 2. Fern Flats wero easily outclassed. Though at times the play- was fast and furious, the hitting of the losers was weak. ■ Second Round. .

Rangitikei beat Manawatu by 5 to 4. This was a very closely contested game right to tho finish, all the players riding and hitting with great spirit.

Two games in tho Handicap Cup woro played, tlio teams being tho four losing teams iii tlio games that have been played for the Saville Cup. Tho first match was between Wellington B (handicap 4 goals) and Christchurch (handicap 8): This was a fast game, 'and ended with the score, counting handicaps, Christchurch. IS, Wei ington B 16. The southern men were mounted on the fastest ponies, with the exception perhaps' of Skerrett (Wellington). Cowlishaw played a magnificent game, and was more or less responsible for most of the scoring on his side. Skerrett s ponies wero faster than those of his colleagues, and he was therefore not supported at times. The second match,' Fern Flats (handicap 16) v. Wellington A (handicap —),- finished with the score, counting handicaps, Fern Flats 20, Wellington A 14. This was an exciting game, being fast and, furious throughout, and the ponies had a severo trial. Clark played a fine game for Wellington, and was well supported by Johnston.
