FOOTBALL
THURSDAY FOOTBALL. Tho representatives of tho Thursday Football Association met as a committee from the P. 13. Rugby Union last evening. Tho formation of tho Association was discussed, and it was thought advisable to place four teams in the field instead of six as contemplated. The committee, while not making any promise, thought it was practicable for tho Association to affiliate with the Union, and that Thursday football should be governed on the same lines as Saturday games. A proposal to control Thursday football will be brought before tho" preliminary meeting of this season’s delegates, and a scheme will bo submitted to the annual meeting. The delegates asked tho committeo to consider the advisability of having a trophy to be played for; and suggested that tho Union grant £ for £ subscribed by tho Thursday players towards that end. The committeo assured tho delegates they would do all they could to foster Thursday football. The committeo of the Thursday Association will meet early next week and finaly arrange teams for Thursday matches. It being advisable that intending Thursday players should form their teams this week, each trade intending to place a team in tho field should send in a list of players to the secretary (Mr. M. Ansell) as soon as possible. A meeting of the Thursday players will be held as soon as this is done, to receive a report from tho committee.
