A Press Association telegram states that a sharp shook of earthquake occurred at Blenheim at 10 on Saturday evening in the direction of west and east. A local mercantile firm received rather unique particulars from a 'farmer who desired to sell his property. After stating its dimensions, lie went on to say:* —“It’s Gods own country, and it’s bounded on three sides by good, pious neighbors.” The Hospital Saturday collections at Invercargill, says a Press message, are saad to constitute a record for the Dominion. A late Press telegram from Wellington states u fire broke out in the Pnketapu Sawmills Company’s premises last evening. Tho monthly mooting ol tlio Gisborne Freezers’ Union was held in Townley’s Hall last evening, Mr. S. Old in tlio chair. Nominations wero received for tlio offices of secretary and member's of committee, and an-election will take place at tlio next meeting. Mr. S, Old was reelected chairman, Mr. W. T. Snowsill treasurer, and Messrs R. Haycock and O. Petersen auditors.
