MILK SUPPLIERS’ ASSOCIATION.
CONFERENCE IN AUCKLAND. Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 25. A conference of members of the A. and P. Association and Milk Vendors’ Association was held this afternoon to protest against tlie milk standard requiring a 3.25 test as set by the new health food regulations. Mr. John'Massey referred to the difficulties which confront the dairy farmers under the new regulations, and said that it would be impossible to obtain such a standard all the year round. Mr. Gray moved, “That tlie Government, before finally fixing the standard for milk, be requested to make inquiries of the scientists, dairymen, milk factory managers, and Government- farm managers; and if necessary arrange for a series of experiments to ascertain if 3.25 was a fair average test.” Air. Miller seconded the motion. Mr. Tansley, representing the Mil'k Vendors’ Association, agreed that the standard was altogether too high. Air. Pilkington said tlie Department seemed bent on increasing “tho unholy revenue” of the Police Court by imposing an impossible standard. After further discussion the motion was carried.
