DROWNED AT WAIROA.

UNKNOWN MAN’S FATE. Press Association. WAIROA, Saturday. At 10 this morning an unknown man was found lying in shallow water near tho bridge. Life was not extinct, but efforts to restore animation failed. An inquest wild be held.

Tho District Coroner, (Mr W. A. Barton S.M.) received a telegram from Constable Luke on Saturday morning stating that a man, whose name is unknown, was found lying * face downwards in a pool of water under the end of the Wairoa bridge. He appears to have been drinking and laid down to go to sleep, the water afterwards rising through the heavy rains and drowning him. The Coroner directed Constable Luke to arrange for a- Justice of tho Peace at Wairoa to hold an inquest.
