.Sergeant Hutt-on and Detective Rawlo, who have ibcen appointed to the local police staff, arrived from south yesterday. Mr and Mrs H. IT. Wall arrived homo yesterday afternoon after a tour in Great Briton and the Continent extending over 23 months. Wi Pero, M.L.C. and Mrs Carroll, accompanied by a large number of local natives left for Napier last night to attend the funeral of the 1-ato Mr William Broughton. Sergeant IT. C. Petersen, Royal New Zealand Artillery, has been awarded the Meritorious Service medal
