TAKAPUNA FERRY AND TRAWMAY COMPANY.
Mr. Paul Hanson, managing director of the Auckland Tramways Company, is at present in Gisborno in connection with the flotation of the Takapuna Tramways and Ferry Company, Ltd., which has been formed to instal a ferry and tramway service from the Auckland wharf to Lake Takapuna. The company, which will consist of 100,000 shares of £1 each, proposes to run. a ferry service from Auckland to O'Neill’s Point, near Shoal Bay, where a tram service will connect to carry passengers to and around Lake Takapuna. returning to O’Neill’s Point, where the ferry boat can be re-hoarded for Auckland. The district around Lake Takapuna has steadily increased in population during the last few years, the Lake and Cheltenham becoming very popular for holiday outings. It is" theretarc considered that Auckland will provide a constant- stream of pleasure-.mn'keis over the ferry and tram rente, inaddition to the large number of residents that will avail 4 hem’-circs of the service. The company has f><tn granted certain options fill'd priyfi leges by the Waitemata County Council, and the deed of delegation sets forth tho conditions under which the service must be conducted. It is estimated that the installation of the complete tramway and ferry so? i ice plant- will cost from £65,010* to £75,000. The deposit movable on each share at the time of application is ?s fid, and the provisional directors mmproceed to allotment when -iOt’OC shares have been applied for. -
