THE BUSHFELLING FATALITY.
Further details to hand of tlio fatal accident which happened to the young man Michael Cruiekslianks at Tnbora- on Friday, go to show that the deceased, with a mate, was engaged in felling trees on Messrs Halbert and Carroll’s To Wiru property, when a tree, which was only partially cut through, came down suddenly upon him, crushing him badly and breaking his neck, liis mate also having a narrow eescapo from accident at tlio same time. The body was at once extricated, but life was extinct, death having been instantaneous. Four men working on the property brought- the body by packhorso to T,aJsora, wlienco it was sent on to Pat-nt alii.
An inquest was held on Saturday at Patutalii by Mr J. A. Caesar, J.P., at which evidence of the cause of tho accident, as stated above, was given, and the jury returned a verdict- that the deceased was accidentally killed.
The unfortunate young man, who was only about 24 years of age, was au Australian, and liis mother and sister are said to bo now resident in Gisborne.
