Two thousand publicans were unable to gain access to a crowded meeting of the trade in the Queen s Hall where tho Licensing Bill uas enthusiastically condemned. Lord Burton wrote that tho BiU was a political fraud, temperance being the last thing that it intended and crush those who perforce were political opponents.
