ENTERTAINMENTS.

HERBERT FEE AIMING COMPANY THE OPENING POSTPONED. Just before 12 o’clock last night Air W. Miller received a private wire from Auckland stating that the Wimmora could not bo despatched from th.it port until after 11 p.m. Mr Miller immediately decided to postpone the opening of Mr Herbert Flemming’s company until to-mor-row (Thursday evening). The arrangement for the season will now be: To-morrow (Thursday), “The Mummy and the Humming Bird”; Friday, “Peter’s Mother”; Saturday, “The Morals of Marcus.” Regarding the box plan it has been decided tint AVednesday’s tickets wilt be trails-, ferrecl to Thursday, Friday’s tickets will stand good, and all those booked Thursday tickets will be transferred to Saturday, and Saturday’s tickets for “The Real Lamp” will be cancelled altogether. Patrons are requested to call at tho booking office at Miller’s corner and have tlieir tickets adjusted. To-morrow (Thursday) night Air Herbert Flemming will present for the first time ill Gisborne Isaac Henderson's curiouslytitled play, “The Mummy and the Humming Bird,” the character-draw-ing of which has been accomplished with consummate skill and fine artistic perception. The general effect of some pi ays of flic kind is light and bright, but in the piece under review the memory is of something scintillating and keen, like tho play ol two rapier points in a duel between masters of fencing, and it is in this respect that it has its chief merit. A duel of wits between an English peer of scientific mind and a Frenchman of distinguished literary attainment calls for clever -treatment, and _ Air. Henderson has succeeded in admirable degree in producing a play which cads for close attention, and quick and ready understanding, and, given that, it is highly enjoyable. On I 1 may the attraction will bo “Peter s Mother,” King Edward’s favorite play; and on Saturday } tho last night of the season, tho management will produce “The Aforals of Afarcus. This play is still running to crowded houses in London, where it was an instantaneous success. For the convenience of country patrons there will he a late to all stations on Saturday nig it.
