THE TRENTHAM MEETING. Press Association. TRENTHAM RANGE, March 9. There was ideal shooting weather when the shooting opened this morning, but later on a puffy wind upset several of the scores. Tho shooting started wi.tli the 500yds of the Wellington Match and the 800yds of the Nelson Match. Halliday ' (Karori) and Johnston (Dunedin) put up the possible at 800yds. The highest at tho 500yds was 49, being scored by four competitors. Tho following aro the principal prize-winners:— Nelson Match, 200, 500, and 800yds. —-Mawley (Opa’ki), £5, 97; Boy (Tim--aru), £4, 96; King (Christchurch), Barltrop (Feilding), 93; Purnell (Wanganui), Young (Oamaru), 92; Crawlinton and Whiting (Wellington), 91, £2. Wellington Match, 500 and 600yds, 10 shots—Mawley (Pahiatua), £5, 94 ; McCalley (Australia), £4, 94; Will (Southland), £4, 93; Taylor (Blenheim), 92; Frank (Nelson), Unit (Gisborne), 91, £3; Marbey (Duvauchelles), 91; Ring (Christchurch), Loveday (Ahaura), Johnstone (Dunedin), 90, £2. Captain King wins the Union Company’s Cup for the highest aggregates score in tho Auckland, Wellington, ‘and Nelson Matches, with a score of. 265. In the Canterbury Match, at 900 and 1000yds; of which the first range was fired this afternoon, Marbey (Duvauclielles) put up 49, and Collet (Waipawa) 46. Johnstone (Owaka), who was leading in the aggregate, made only 25. The leading aggregates, with twenty shots to fire at 1000yds are: Collet (Waipawa) 375, Evans (Christchurch) 372, Bairstow (Opaki) 368. THE GISBORNE TEAM. (Special to Times.) TRENTHAM RANGE, March 9. We fired in the Wellington Match, 10 shots at 500 and 600 yards. Rait scored 91, and Breingan 87, but the others were not in it. The prize list is not yet out. In the first stage of the Canterbury Match, 10 shots at 900yds, the scores were: Breingan 43, E. Somerville 36, Hingston 34, Higliam Sergeant Somervell 23. . ’ Apparently we are not in Luck s Lane this time.
