HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 9. The High Commissioner’s report of London, March 7th, states:—The mutton market is firm. There is better enquiry this week for forward deliveries from. New Zealand. Canterbury mutton is at 4§d, North Island 33d, River Plate 3£d. The hunt) market is very firm; Canterbury brands s|d, other., than Canterbury 53d. The butter market is fi rm at the decline, and excitement has subsided. The position is quite satisfactory, 'and there is a good demand for choicest. New Zealand is at 1225, Australia 120 s; Argentine 120 s; and Danish 126 s per cwt. The cheese market is very depressed. On account of advice from Manila, all fibres are offering at much lower prices. Good, fair grade on spot is at £25, fair grade £2l per ton; for March-May shipments £24 lOis and £23 5s are quoted respectively for good and fair grade. The cocksfoot seed market is quiet .at 74s per cwt. The hop market is dull and likely to continue so. The market is becoming more depressed on account of the licensing legislation. Best quality ol English hops 60s, American 40s per cwt. Shipments from River Plate for February are:—London, mutton 86,260, lambs 11,701; Liverpool 88,pool 88,228, and 17,059; Hull, 7101 and 1000; Newcastle, 13,520 and 1937'; Cardiff, 15,064 and 1346; Southampton 6000; Ireland, 3193 and 200. Current quotations for Bradford tops are : 36’s (low crossbreds), lid lb; 40’s (low crossbreds), 11-Jd lb; 44’s (medium crossbreds), is Id; 50’s (halfbreds), Is SRI; 56’s (quarter breds), Is 83d; 60’s (merinos) 2s 03d. The market is dull and declining, especially for coarse tops of alii grades. LONDON MARKETS. United Press Association—Copvrhdr LONDON. March 8. Forties 11),d, other classes unchanged.
