[Correspondence on public matter* is welcomed at all tiuios, but it must bo distinctly understood that thi» journal is in no way associated with tho opinions of its correspondent*.] LIBERAL GOVERNMENT TRICKERY. (To tho Editor.) Sir, —Tho case of Air. G. Muir, who -has worked on To Arai for ton veins, and loses his employment through the cutting un of tho cstato, clearly shows the hand of tho Government, and how thev can best evade, thoir own laws, it such a clause was passed in the new Land Act giving preference for a section to the man who lost his employment tlirougJi tho compulsory taking of an cstato, in the name of common sense why should that man not have the same chanco even if the estate is taken from a lessee? He loses his billet just tho same. But this is only on a par with many of the other sharp tricks of tho present Government over land transactions. Freeholders, keen your eyes opon! It is only a matter ol time when the present Socialistic Government will trv to nationalise the wliolo of New Zealand. Then wo will be a nation of serfs and Government inspectors galore. —-Yours, etc., “FREEHOLDER.”
