BILLIARDS.
There was another large crowd of spectators at the Victoria Billiard Saloon on Saturday night to witness a game in the billiard championship of Gisborne. The competitors were E.Austin and W. AYallentino, and it was an even game right up to 150, when E. Austin got ahead, and his opponent, battling against hard luck, reached 189 when the former went out. The gamo lasted 48' minutes, and was very interesting. At the conclusion of the gamo the spectators accorded applause to the winner. Tonight G. B. Rex meets M. Johns, and a good game should result. WANGANUI RACES. Press Association. WANGANUI, March 7. There was beautiful weather for the second day of the Wanganui J.C. meeting, and a large attendance. The sum of £13,439 was put through -the totalisator, making a total of £24,437 for the meeting, as against £24,326 last year. Twenty-nine bookmakers were present.
